The WWW Versus the Internet

Although the World Wide Web depends on an available Internet connection, it actually works as a separate technology from the Internet itself. The Internet is a series of connections between devices, including hardware such as cables, wires, routers, switches, hubs, and TCP/IP software protocols that control how data flows from one connection to the next.
